What is PRP?

PRP is a form of restorative medicine created from your blood. It contains a high concentration of your blood’s natural healing properties, including platelets, growth factors, and specialized proteins.

PRP liquid facelift

The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) liquid facelift is a cosmetic procedure that utilizes your blood to rejuvenate your skin and look. Avenal Primary Care recommends nonsurgical PRP facelifts for those with deeper wrinkles.

During a PRP facelift, the team uses the ProGen® PRP system and SkinPen® microneedling to restore your ability to repair damaged tissues. The PRP stimulates your skin’s natural healing cascade, increasing collagen production and skin cell turnover.

PRP hair restoration

PRP injections can also help stimulate hair follicles and regrowth. If you have hair loss, your provider takes a small sample of your blood and separates the platelets with a centrifuge. 

The PRP is rich in growth factors, and when it’s injected into the scalp, it may help your hair grow back thicker and fuller.

What can I expect with PRP treatment?

The team at Avenal Primary Care reviews what you can expect during your PRP treatment at your initial consultation. 

If you’re receiving a PRP facial, your provider cleanses your skin with an antibacterial cloth and you receive a topical numbing agent to reduce discomfort. 

They draw a sample of blood from your arm to make your PRP. Then, they inject the PRP into your skin or scalp to achieve your cosmetic goals. Most patients need two tubes of PRP to get the best results*. 

For your initial treatment, Avenel Primary Care may recommend a series of two to four treatments set at monthly intervals. You may notice some redness at the injection sites, but these side effects disappear quickly. Over the next several weeks, you should continue to see improvements in your look.
